Homemade Microwave Popcorn in a Paper Bag!

Gotta craving for popcorn...out of microwave popcorn bags...don't want to pull out the pan and make it on the stove...what to do...what to do...

Over the weekend I discovered that my husband never knew that you could make your own microwave popcorn. That got me to thinking that maybe others out there didn't know how to do it either.

Directions for homemade microwave popcorn

Ingredients:
Plain popcorn
Small brown paper lunch bag
Microwave

Optional:
Salt
Butter

Open the brown paper lunch bag. Pour in about 1/2 cup unpopped plain popcorn. Fold the top of the bag over twice. Place the bag, folded side up, in the microwave. Cook on high for approximately 2-3 minutes. Stop the microwave when the popping slows down so it doesn't burn.

That's it!

It tastes like plain air popped popcorn. There is no oil, salt or butter, unless you add it afterwards. If you want butter and salt, pour the bag into a bowl as the melted butter will drain through the paper bag in about 2 seconds! Salt will not stick to this popcorn unless it has butter on it, the salt will just bounce right off. You can also use butter spray if you don't want to douse the popcorn in melted butter.

This is also the easiest way to make plain popcorn to use on Christmas trees. Ever wanted to string popcorn garlands with the kids for the tree? This is a great way to do it without the salt of butter on it. And it is so easy, the kids can even do it themselves.
